July 2022 Mix

I’ve been on this big Beth Orton kick all month. Central Reservation holds up about as well as anything and I found it more than a little disconcerting to think it’s twenty three years old now. That’s insane. I sort of quit on Orton after Comfort of Strangers because it sounded so dull, but I think it was just badly recorded. “Love Like Laughter” is a song I used to put on CD mixes twenty years ago and here it is with a bunch of other newer stuff. I love the bridge and blast of Savannah Conley’s “Always Gonna Happen.” And the weird Yard Act / Elton John collaboration was a last-minute addition that I think is horrible and perfect at the same time.

It’s hippy bullshit but it’s true.
