September 2022 Mix

A song by Jellyfish randomly came up in my queue and I was thrown back into memories of those glorious late-80s, early-90s American Music Club albums. The pedal steel guitar sounded just like Bruce Kaphan in AMC, and lo and behold “Russian Hill” featured his dreamy, cosmic warmth. It’s a glorious song. The rest of the mix is filled with fun songs by newer bands, but I hope you enjoy Candi Stanton’s cover of a Doobie Brothers hit.

I’ve spent the past couple months editing a new novel manuscript, working title: Tick. I’m told I’m not allowed to title a book with the name of the main character. I’m not sure Tick is the main character anyway. It’s something of an ensemble, but mostly about an impulsive millennial vacationing in Nebraska who gets it in her head to film a documentary about an old white everyman of the plains. It’s funny, a bit of a mystery, a story about family and growing up no matter how old you are.
